SCOTTISH GAS FINES HIT MOST VULNERABLE IN ANGUS

Angus MP, Mike Weir, has reacted angrily to the news that customers already struggling to pay their energy bills on time will be hit with a £5 fine by Scottish Gas every time they are sent a reminder letter.

Mr Weir said:

“Fuel poverty in Angus has increased sharply in recent times and this latest action by Scottish Gas is exceptionally mean-spirited especially as we enter the coldest period of the year.

“Scottish Gas already makes huge profits from high energy prices and this new charge is simply another way for them to squeeze more money out of their long suffering customers struggling to pay their bills.

 “With no end in sight to the record high energy prices, Scottish Gas really have some gall introducing this plan and should drop it now!”
