COMPANIES MUST DO MORE TO HELP FUEL POOR

Commenting today on an ICM poll that showed that half of pensioners are cutting back on other things to pay for their fuel bills, SNP Energy Spokesperson Mike Weir MP said:

“It is absurd that in a resource rich Scotland pensioners and other vulnerable groups should have to cut back on essential things in order to heat their homes.  This latest survey confirms that the situation remains dire.

“Energy companies must do more to help pensioners.  Recent announcements about reductions in the coming months come as little comfort to those currently suffering in the cold now.  There could easily be more increases in the near future, highlighting the need for urgent action.”
