MINISTERS DUCK SERIOUS QUESTIONS IN FACE OF ELECTORAL DISASTER

Speaking after Work and Pensions questions today (Monday) in the House of Commons, SNP Work & Pensions spokesperson, Mike Weir MP, derided Labour Ministers as “acting like rabbits caught in car headlights” after the Secretary of State ignored serious questions on benefits and child care to launch a derisory attack on Scottish Independence.

Mr Weir said:

“Labour Ministers are acting like rabbits caught in the car headlights, unable to answer important questions as they sit transfixed by their impending electoral disaster.

“There are serious questions on the government’s proposals for welfare reform, particularly how child care is to be provided for children in their early teens.

“There also remains a serious split at the heart of government as some Ministers attack parents for not spending enough time with their children whilst others try to force them out of work, leaving their children in child care.”
