MIKE WEIR MP SPEAKS OUT ON ANTI-SOCIAL DRIVING IN BRECHIN’S CHURCH STREET
Mike Weir MP spoke out today about the anti-social driving that is taking place in Brechin’s Church Street.
He commented:
“More than 100 people live in Church Street in addition to a number of businesses and I have been approached for my assistance on this matter.
"I have been liaising with Councillor Mairi Evans and have contacted Tayside Police. Whilst policing is a devolved matter, I had occasion to make enquiries of Tayside Police about a particular aspect.
“Local officers continue to monitor the situation closely and I am pleased they are pursuing anti-social driving which is disturbing Church Street residents. I would urge all drivers to act sensibly when going through this area of Brechin especially as this is a narrow street.
"However, please be aware that the Police will take action against those who do not, with potentially severe consequences for offenders.”
Supporting action against drivers who speed or drive irresponsibly in Church Street, Councillor Mairi Evans added:
“I will continue to liaise with residents and police over this matter. Meanwhile, it is vital that residents continue to report instances to the police.”
