WEIR: BLAIR RESORTS TO
"BLUSTERING" ATTACK ON INDEPENDENCE
SNP MP Mike Weir today (Wednesday) criticised Tony Blair for a
blustering attack on independence and for failing to answer his question
over the cash-for-peerages scandal at Prime Ministers Questions.
Mr Weir said:
"The Prime Minister yet again refused to address the core issue of the
cash-for-peerages scandal which continues to haunt the Labour
leadership.
"When the Metropolitan police come knocking at the door of No 10 he will
not get away with a blustering attack on independence, they will want
answers to specific questions on this whole sorry affair.
"We have now reached the ridiculous situation where the former leader of
the Tory party has been questioned by the police, Labour's chief
fundraiser has been arrested and the Liberal's chief donor is in jail.
"It is essential that we clean up politics and the Mr Blair is open and
honest about what he knows about this issue. At next year's Scottish
elections it is a clear choice for the people of Scotland - a sleazy
Labour Government with Jack McConnell on a leash from London or an
honest, trustworthy Alex Salmond as First Minister."
