WEIR BACK SAMARITANS STRESS DOWN DAY

Angus MP, Mike Weir, has commended the Samaritans on its continued work to inform the national debate on health, work and wellbeing through the development of Stress Down Day which will be held on 1st February.  Workplaces are being encouraged to wear their slippers at work, although if this isn’t practical, other stress down activities are offered on the Samaritans’ website, www.stressdownday.org.uk

Mr Weir who welcomed the charity’s campaign to educate the public about the dangers of unchecked stress said:

“Stress can affect anyone.  Stress Down Day is the Samaritan’s national awareness and fundraising event which aims to get across a serious message in a light hearted way.

“It’s a day when the Samaritans will be raising awareness of the effects of stress in the workplace and encouraging people to take better care of their emotional well being.

“The Samaritans must be applauded for their continued work in highlighting this issue.  However, it is vital that there is continued commitment and resources available in order to tackle common mental health issues  such as stress, anxiety and depression in order to achieve the Samaritan’s vision.”
