WEIR WELCOMES RESOLUTION OF POST OFFICE PAY NEGOTIATIONS

Angus MP Mike Weir, SNP Spokesperson on Trade and Industry, has welcomed the news that the Post Office and the Communications Workers Union have reached a  pay agreement.

“This is a rare piece of good news in the saga of the future of the Post Office.

This agreement lifts the threat of industrial action over the Summer and is good news for Post Office customers and those of us who are deeply concerned at the inroads private delivery services are making in postal deliveries.”

“The Universal Service Obligation on the Post Office is essential for rural areas and the best way of securing it is by a strong postal service throughout Scotland. Competitors are already seeking to take business in urban areas and in the business market.”
