Welcome for Moves to Enhance Arbroath Station

Angus MP Mike Weir has welcomed moves by First Scotrail to examine ways to sustainably develop some of the buildings at Arbroath Station that are currently unused.

Commenting on the appointment of architects to look at the buildings future Mr Weir said

“Arbroath station is an important building with an impressive façade. Unfortunately some of the buildings have been unused for quite some time. They do, however, have a great deal of potential.”

“There have been several imaginative regenerations of railway stations over the last few years. I recently travelled from the recently regenerated St  Pancras station in London , which is a magnificent example of what can be done to regenerate decaying stations.”

“Clearly Arbroath Station is not in the same league but nonetheless offers a great deal of potential. I look forward with interest to what may come from this effort and hope we will see a regeneration of the station in the near future.”
