WEIR WELCOMES BANK OF SCOTLAND ANNOUNCEMENT ON ARBROATH ATM

Angus MP Mike Weir has welcomed an announcement by the Bank of Scotland that they are seeking a site in the Brothock area of Arbroath to site a non fee charging ATM.

The move comes on the heels of a recent plea by Mr Weir for all financial institutions to provide more non fee charging machines in rural and more deprived areas.

The bank are looking to site a total of one hundred new non fee charging ATMs throughout Scotland and the North of England and have identified the Brothock area of the town as one of the areas which would benefit from such a service.

Commenting on the move Mr Weir said this was recognition of the need to ensure that people could get free access to their own funds.

“I have been in correspondence with the bank regarding their attitude to ATMs and I am delighted that they have now recognised the need to expand the number of non fee charging ATMs.”

“A site has yet to be identified in the Brothock area but when it is in place this will provide an important service to local people.”

“I am very pleased that the bank are making this move and have offered every assistance in identifying and securing a suitable site. I hope that other banks will take note and look at other areas of Angus where these machines could make a real difference.”
