LABOUR MPs FEAR SNAP ELECTION
 
Commenting on the Newsnight Scotland survey which found that a majority of backbench Scottish Labour MP do not want a general election this year Mike Weir MP, the SNP's Westminster Campaign Director said:
 
"This is ample proof that Labour is running scared of the SNP in Scotland and confirms why Alex Salmond is right to call for an election now.
 
"After the fantastic election results in May and with the SNP's ratings soaring we would welcome a vote as soon as possible.
 
"Not only do we have Labour MPs fearing an election but Scotland Office Minister David Cairns has admitted that the SNP honeymoon is 'still going on'.
 
"The SNP is up for an election and ready to go with the confidence that we'll make progress."
