The last year has produced absolutely horrendous revelations as to what some MPs have been claiming on their Additional Costs Allowance – usually referred to in press reports as the Second Home Allowance.
The revelations as to claims for cleaning moats, repairing tennis courts, hanging chandeliers, flipping homes to maximise claims and making huge profits on selling flats bought with mortgages paid for from allowances.
I have been as shocked as anyone by some of these revelations.
I fully support transparency in expenses and believe that we need to move urgently to the system that operates in the Scottish Parliament.
I would like to make absolutely clear that I have always rented a small one bedroom flat in London and have never bought property.
In response to these problems Parliament set up the Legg Review to look at every MP's expenses over the last four years. As a result of this many MPs, including the Prime Minister, have been asked to pay back money. I am pleased to say that the Review did not find that there were any issues with my ACA claims and I have not been asked to make any repayments.
If you click on the links to the right you will be able to view not only those published by the House of Commons but also my claims for the last year. I will also publish this year's claims as they are made.
Click on the links below to view details of my Additional Costs Allowance .
The receipts for years 2004 to 2008 are shown as Parliament intends to publish them with black boxes over what they consider to be sensitive information.
Please note that the form shows payments as Mortgage or Rent - for the avoidance of doubt I have NEVER bought a property in London and all these payments refer to rent.
2005-2006Note :- there appears to be a double payment of a phone bill of £37.08 in August/September which I have now repaid to the fees office.
I have also decided to publish more up to date information and if you click below you can access information on the year
which is the latest full year. I have redacted some information but have left more detail than the Commons versions. Please note, however, that these details are from my own records.
I have also decided to put up my monthly claims for the current year as they are made and they can be accessed below
